We are seeking an Research & Development Manager to join This AG, a Rayner company, at our Heerbrugg site in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to manage our R&D team dedicated to Sophi, the first wireless Phaco system to offer high flexibility and mobility, providing ease of handling in the operating theatre and increased usability.

 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage and motivate System Sophi R&D team in development of embedded systems, bus systems, mechanics, pneumatics, sensors and actors

  • Responsibility for ensuring that the schedule, requirements and costs are adhered to

  • Creating and expanding user requirement specification, functional requirement specification and risk management

  • Preparing and conducting design reviews

  • Support and implementation of CE, FDA and NMPA approval

  • Project management, controlling, monitoring, reporting and documentation of internal and external development projects

  • Support and troubleshooting internal and by suppliers

  • Documentation, verification and validation of MedTech devices, instruments and consumables

  • Accompaniment of audits and approvals

  • Input for R&D budget, optimizing resource allocation for maximum impact

  • Partner with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, research organizations, and suppliers

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices

  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertise to the team

  • Drive the development of prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and new technologies

  • Prepare data for intellectual property (IP) development and protection related to R&D projects 

 

What Do You Need

  • Bachelor, Master or FH preferably in electronic design or medical technology

  • Senior project leader

  • Experience in Medtech development projects, design transfer and series production

  • Experience in Ophthalmology strongly preferred

  • As an innovative inventor type, you enjoy clever and smart solutions

  • You enjoy working in a team and taking on responsibility

  • You feel comfortable in complex systems

  • Languages: German and English spoken and written

  • Leadership experience, organizational talent

  • Lean production, cost saving and process optimization

  • Tools: MS Project, MS Office, ERP and understanding for C++, Qt, GitLab, Linux, CAD, PLM Windchill
