As the Human Resource Generalist, Americas, you will provide vital front line human resources support to employees in addition to managing payroll and benefits administration in the US, Brazil and Canada. The right person will utilize the designated tools with accuracy and efficiency to provide good numerical/ analytical support as well as superb communication skills to interact with colleagues. Your key responsibilities will be:

 

General Responsibilities 

  • Front line contact for employee questions regarding policies, procedures, benefits and payroll

  • Responsible for employee engagement activities within the market as well as onboarding and offboarding activities

  • Support and be responsible for embedding locally the global HR initiatives

  • Support the HR Director, Americas with integration projects, data and reporting

  • Administer annual salary review cycles

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies

  • Partner closely with different stakeholders (HR, local HR and Finance teams)

  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits

  • Maintain HRIS system to ensure data accuracy

  • Drive high performance In the region, ensuring that performance management processes are understood with manager training where required

  • Maintain the relevant HR systems such as PeopleXD and be the subject matter expert for systems In the region.

  • Work closely with the Talent team to understand resourcing and recruitment needs In the region

  • Stay abreast of regional and local employment law changes to ensure that Rayner policies are updated and compliant

 Payroll Administration 

  • Deep understanding of federal, state and local legislation impacting payroll practices in the US, Brazil and Canada.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records to meet internal and external compliance requirements.

  • Partner with payroll vendor to ensure all tax filings are completed accurately and timely

  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations and changes) to efficiently manage new hires and terminations.

  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems and where required import monthly hours data from the time management system in order to administer the payrolls

 Benefits Administration 

  • Serve as the organization's benefits expert to effectively and accurately administer all employee benefit programs

  • Develop a strong partnership with the organization's benefits broker and effectively liaise with external benefit providers

  • Respond to and resolve payroll and benefits questions

  • Manage leaver process Analytics

  • Prepare monthly HR data to report to HR leadership and executive committee

  • Subject matter expert with Excel and the ability to provide accurate data to leadership

  • Maintain trackers and records with accuracy

 

Essential/Required 

  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field

  • Professional certification, e.g. SHRM-SP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or GPHR

  • 5 plus years of proven experience within a pay and benefits role including current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws

  • Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes

  • Familiarity with payroll software/ HRIS (e.g. Access HR, Papaya Global) and MS Office (especially Excel which should be at advance level)

  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and good math skills

  • Outstanding communication skills (written and oral). Ability to communicate and persuade at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities

  • Able to handle confidential information and data in a compliant and professional manner

  • A teamplayer

 

 Desirable 

  • Experience within the ophthalmology sector, medical device or pharma industry

  • Ability to speak Portuguese

  • Experience as a generalist, payroll or benefits specialist in Brazil and/or Canada

Up to 20% travel.
