This role provides hands-on operational accounting support to Rayner Biomaterials and selected finance processes for Rayner Surgical SL in Porto. The position is primarily focused on transactional accounting, stock control, and month-end execution, working closely with operations, warehousing, and the local finance team.
The role reports into the Senior Accountant and ensures the accurate and timely execution of finance processes, strong controls, reliable data, and smooth month-end closes.
This position is ideal for an experienced Senior Clerk / Accounting Officer with strong attention to detail and a solid background in operational accounting within a manufacturing or operational environment.
Please note that this role is based on-site at our Iberia regional office in Porto, with monthly travel to Rayner Biomaterials.
What You'll Be Doing:
Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment runs.
Maintain daily cash book activities and perform timely, accurate bank reconciliations.
Oversee and reconcile stock movements in ERP/WMS systems, ensuring alignment with warehouse records and inventory accuracy.
Prepare and post monthly journals, including accruals, prepayments, COGS support, and maintain the fixed asset register.
Support month-end close by ensuring complete and accurate transactional data and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
Provide supporting documentation and schedules for internal reviews and audits.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirements; assist with audit processes.
Contribute to finance system optimisation and continuous improvement of processes and controls.
Collaborate closely with operations, supply chain, shared services, and onsite teams (including regular travel) to resolve queries and maintain strong cross-functional alignment.
What Experience & Skills You Will Need:
Essential
- Newly qualified accountant or candidate in final stages (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Previous and proven management accounts experience essential (2-3 years')
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar)
- Accurate and attention to detail
- Keen and hardworking
- Self-starter but able to contribute to the wider finance team’s objectives
- Excellent Excel skills
- Fluency in Portuguese and business proficiency in English (B2)
Desirable
- Knowledge of IFRS reporting desirable
- Experience in manufacturing or healthcare sectors
- Exposure to international tax and transfer pricing
- Familiarity with digital finance tools and automation
